Wisdom from Shak. This is gold. She is an amazing person and I'm so lucky, blessed, and grateful that she's my friend. Love you Shak!
Hey guys, I really wish I could be there, but here's what I would say if I was. First, don't try to remember every detail from this meeting it might put your brain into overload. Just focus on the things that resonate with you or are relevant to your position. If you find yourself feeling stressed go back to basics...run fast, hit hard and low, targets out when passing, stay together on defense and COMMUNICATE. Another tip to stay calm...SAY EVERYTHING OUT LOUD, LOUD ENOUGH FOR PEOPLE TO HEAR YOU. If you keep saying everything you're going to do out loud and telling teammates what you need from them things get easier..you're body will pay more attention to what you need to do and you won't get caught up in your own head. Finally, OUT-WORK your opposite. You won't be better than her in every way but you can expose her weakness. If she's bigger or hits harder, run faster. If she runs faster, than hit her harder. **Remember no matter how fast someone is you don't have to chase her until she runs past you. So...track her down and get in her way!!! Be a road block hit her, strip the ball whatever you have to do. I love you all. Rookies trust your instincts and lean on your vets, Vets trust your experience because you know what good rugby feels like so be vocal on the field. Good luck guys!!!! Leave everything on the field, when you think you're body's got nothing left...trust me you have more left to give, just push a little harder.Let's play some Brown Rugby <3 Love,SHAK
